Setup and troubleshooting

Portal connection

Portal mode is a third way to connect, alongside M3U URL and Xtream Codes. The principle: the service recognises the device by its identifier rather than by a password.

In four steps

  1. Read the device identifier in ⚙ Config
  2. Send it to your provider for registration
  3. Enter the portal address in SofIPTV
  4. Confirm and wait for the list to load

How this mode works

Instead of a username and password, the service ties your subscription to the device itself. You give it the identifier shown by SofIPTV, it registers it on its side, then you enter the portal address it provided.

It plays exactly the same role as the other two modes: a way to load the channel list you already have access to.

Availability per platform

Portal mode is available today in the Android, Google TV and Fire TV builds downloadable from this site. On Samsung and LG, the apps are under store review: the feature arrives with their publication.

Common errors

  • Identifier not registered — until the service adds it on its side, the portal refuses the connection.
  • Incomplete portal address — enter it exactly as provided, port included.
  • New device — a different device carries a different identifier, which has to be registered again.

Which mode to choose

If your service offers several modes, Xtream Codes is usually the simplest: nothing to register, and the programme guide comes with the list. Portal is useful when it is the only mode on offer.
